G540 WHAT VERSION DO I HAVE?

Just bought a g540 from keling but I was assuming I was getting the latest version of the product since that's what they said i'd get. When I opened the casing it says ver 5 on the board. The gecko website says they're on ver 8. Is there any other way to find out what version I have? I can't find any ver 5 manual...

The G540 REV8 begins shipping next week. The REV5 is the current revision until then. The biggest difference is the 'ADJUST' trimpots have been moved from their current nearly inaccessible location to the G540 motherboard, immediately under the 'ADJUST' holes on the G540 cover.

You have to take the G540 apart to see the revision number; it is printed on the motherboard. Our sheetmetal vendor fabricates the G540 enclosure and our screen-print vendor stencils the enclosure with the cover artwork. We never put the revision number on the enclosure artwork of any of our product. It is impractical to synchronize our stock of vendor supplied enclosures with the drive revision we manufacture; doing so would require discarding a large amount of expensive enclosures every time there was a board revision change.

Are you wondering what happened to REV6 and REV7? They were un-marketed prototype designs that were themselves revised until the result was REV8.
