I've been running a G540 with Mach3 in three axis mode for several months now with no problems. This weekend, I've been working on getting a 4th axis running and have hit a snag. I tested the new motor off of one of the "proven" axes drivers, and it works with no problems. However, if I hook any motor up to the 4th axis connector, when I power up and enable the charge pump, I'll hear the usual "click" of the motors going into hold mode, and can see a slight jerk of each motor (also as usual), but there is no hold current to any axis. If I disconnect the 4th axis motor and try again, everything is back to normal. Just having a motor connected to the 4th axis connector keeps all of the motors from holding. The fault light on the G540 comes on, but it doesn't seem to be sending any fault back to Mach3. Any ideas? Bad driver in the G540? Thanks! Dave |
