I bought a NEMA 42 (very large) stepper motor. It is a Pacific Scientific (USA made whoo!) 2698oz/in = 19.06Nm stepper that wants to consume 7.4 amps. It unfortunately has a high inductance of 10.6mH. That means I really should give it 100V, but I'm going to settle for around 80, hence the geckos. I think I want to go with either the G203V or the G213V for the built in protection since I am going to be really close to the max of 80V. With a motor as large as mine, do you think there would be any advantage in getting the G213V with the selectable microstepping? I don't have prior experience with mega-size motors. Thanks! |

| For anyone wondering, I called Gecko (friendly people!) and asked if there was a benefit for me to use the 213V. They said no. One of the only reasons to use the 213V is for retrofitting an old machine that has micro stepping assumptions built into the software and you need to match the old drive with the new. Sorry for the self-fuled thread here. |
