When the G540 was designed, the VFD section was meant to replace the remote speed control potentiometer. My understanding was most VFD drives have that option. A 5K potentiometer is specified and it has 10VDC across it.
Thanks for the reply Mariss, after posting this I checked the suggested improvements for the G540 in the thread about that and saw that a 12v 50ma line is being considered as an addition to the current design, that would do too.

I would suggest adding a few more lines to the user manual, will post about that in the g540 suggestions thread.

It can be set for 24vdc pot supply or just analogue input and com.

Yes, this VFD does not provide +10, its a 0.75KW single phase input unit not much bigger than a can of soda, amazing what they can do in such a small space.
Got it working yesterday under mach3 control via the G540, need to add relay for FOR/REV control and tidy up the control panel.

    Thanks guys

A plug in has been written for huanyang for USB to RS-485, which is non-ModBus compatible.
I am hoping to get an idea what is needed for plugin programming, I have the tools, I just need to get up to speed with them.
