Gecko 540g

Hi, I want to use a motor control relay box to turn on/off my router. Have a 540g and Mach3, all I need is to send continuity to the box leads to start it. Anyone know which positions on the 540 to hook to.

Thanks

Buy me a Beer?

It should work with any output.

Then assign that output pin to Output 1 in Mach3, and set Output 1 for M3 on the spindle tab of ports and pins.

Take a look at the G540 data sheet on the Gecko drive web site. They have a drawing that show how to connect relays to the G540.

Hi ED,

Have a look at this Engineering Note EN010 on my web site. It shows how to wire up a G540, including relays.

Engineering Notes : Homann Designs!, The preferred CNC Component Supplier

Also some of the other Engineering notes may be interesting.

Cheers,

Peter

Homann Design v8.0

I have downloaded the schematic from Homann Designs. I have a G540 latest version, and a VFD-M (230V input / VFD015M21A)

I am confused with the 2nd page drawing as the db9 connector states VFD connector, but I think it should be the limit Switch connector. My confusion is the way the wire from the touch probe is routed around pin 9 and connects to pin 8. Is pin 9 and 8 jumpered? Also, on the female side of the plug (page 1) pins 1-4 are used as inputs 1-4, but on the male side pin 4 is not used.

I am at the stage of wiring in all of my limits and home switches and just want to make sure I am reading the schematic correctly.

As stated earlier, I also need help in understanding on the VFD of the schematic, VR+, VI, and ACM is shown. On my VFD what would these correspond to?

Thanks for all of your help in advance.

Hi,

With reference to Engineering note EN-010_V8

The Female DB9 VFD connector on page 2 plugs into the Male DB9 VFD connector on Page 1

The Male DB9 Limit switch connector on page 2 plugs into the Female DB9 limit switch connector on Page 1

The inputs on the G540 go active when the particular input is connected to 0V (-Vdc ). As such you can see that the Female limit switch connector on page 1 has pins 6 to 9 connected to the -Vdc of the power supply.

On page 2, the touch probe is connected to pins 3 and 8 of the male limit switch connector. Additionally, Pin 3 of the female limit switch connector on Page 1 connects to the G540 input terminal 3. So, the probe input is connected to the G540 terminal block input pin 3.

When the touch probe is active (switch closed) the G540 terminal block input pin 3 is connected to the G540 terminal block input pin 12, or Vdc-

Remember that the male limit switch connector on page 2 plugs into the female limit switch connector on page 1.

I hope the above is clear?

Cheers,

Peter

As to the Delta VFD, according to page 2-2 of the manual

http://www.delta.com.tw/product/em/d...N_20100514.pdf

you need to connect as follows.

Delta VFD G540 Page 2 VFD female DB9
-----------------------------------------------
+10V Terminal 9 3
AVI Terminal 8 2
ACI Terminal 7 1
-----------------------------------------------

Cheers,

Peter
