I am trying to solve a Solid State Relay trigger issue. The SSR relay is triggered by 3-32VDC volts and the laptop puts out 1.34 volts. Is there a way to add a resistor to the SSR to increase/boost voltage output of the laptop? Sorry, electronics experience is minimal. Is it best just to use a desktop? The relays i use are -Fotek SSR-25 DA, Mach 3 cnc control software, Dell D600 latitude laptop. |

| I'm typing this on a Dell D600! ![]() Usually lap tops are 3.5v active high? I will have to measure mine. But it should be possible to connect a 2N7000 gate to the P.P. output and switch the SSR with the output of the 2n7000. Ideally the power for the switching could come from the D600 power adaptor, 19vdc, or another DC source. If more than a few have to be switched then a ULN2805 could be used. Search 2n7000 here for a circuit example. Desk top would be better, but even then, a buffer as above is ideal. Al.

| Thanks for the input Al. I think i solved the problem. Hommann Designs has a wiring diagram, that shows output 1 goes to one connection (acts as ground) and on the same side of the relay a 3-32vdc power supply(Wall wort) is needed. This make sense now. I thought the output 1 / 2 was suppling the 3-32 vdc. Not so. |
