Hello, I am finishing up a 4 axis controller for a Bridgeport mill conversion using 4 G320 drivers (not 320x). The 4th axis will drive a rotary table when needed. Is it OK to keep power connected to the unused G320 (A-axis) without the motor and encoder plugged into that drive? I know its not OK to plug or unplug the motor with the Gecko powered. Thanks, Mike |

| No physical harm should come to the drive as long as you do not make or break the motor connection while power is applied. On the other hand, the feedback loop will not be closed so the drive will instantly go into a fault condition. If you have the ERR/RST pins of all your drives connected together, then all of your drives will shut down. It is often desirable to tie the ERR/RST pins together so that all motors stop if any drive faults. Regards, Steve Stallings www.PMDX.com |
