i think i might have just blown a motor . at least it got extremely hot, and smells a bit burnt..I thought by switching the internal jumpers to low amperage mode on my gecko G201 that no external resistor was needed when running a motor less than 1amp. i may well have subjected the tiny nema17 0.5amp motor to 7 amps. i found the forumala for resistors in low amp mode, SHAME IT DOESNT PRINT IT ON THE SIDE OF THE GECKO WITH THE OTHER RESISTORS AND AMPS SETTINGS. | Sorry to hear that. There is only so much room on the G201 cover to print stuff. The rest of the G201 information is in the manual and we used bold-face type to draw attention to important stuff like the current set resistor equations. |

| no worries, the text is slightly ambiguous, especially since the resistors printed on the gecko stop at 1amp, then theres a physical jumper for low amp mode (that in itself, 'since it isnt written explicitly' implied, at least to me: use the jumper not a resistor if you have a low amperage motor)... i have an early model of the g201, so maybe the manual has changed for the better since then. |
