Was doing a test run and came back to find my cat had took a bite into x-axis motor cable ![]() Cable was burnt where the bite was and the g540 now throws up a fault light with the 10/12 bridged or not. Tested the power supply that came with the kit and it's doing 44v out to the gecko. Manual seemed to imply that if I'm getting lights that the fuse wouldn't be the issue. Do I have a dead drive? |

| Did you unplug that cable? I had an intermittent connection in a cable that caused a stepper to go down or up (depending on it's own whim) no matter which direction it was told to go. The G540 lived. I also had a resister in the cable touching a ground after it came loose and one leg was floating. Neither problem killed the G540. Check for other issues like a chewed limit switch. First power cord your cat chews and you will have smoked cat. Get some of that pepper stuff that keeps pets from chewing things and use it well. |

| Cat is still alive and fine ![]() I believe he bit into the cable and while the machine was still running and eventually the wires touched. Considering he was still in the room just sitting there without care. I pulled the g540 out of the housing it came in and unplugged everything but the 10/11/12 pin connections from the PS. It'll fault if 10/12 are bridged or not. The cable was actually burnt and the wires were melted together. |

| I tried with no db9/db25 cables plugged in and just the Pin cables to power it up and no go. I then tried the standard 3 pin cables and a good db9 cable plugged into the Y axis and no go. Same when I tried with the db25 cable plugged in along with the db9 on the y axis. I opened up the unit and didn't see anything burnt which I guess would be considered a positive. |
