I have a desktop mill that needs a new driver board. I am looking at the G540, but have some questions with the current PSU and steppers. Motors: (4) LIN 4218l-01-10 (2A/Phase 2.6mH/Phase) Note: X-Axis requires 2 motors for a total of 4 motors. PSU: MEAN WELL PSP-600-27 (27V 22Amp) Is the current PSU too much for the steppers/g540? Any reservations against this setup? Anything is replaceable, however the Nema 17 size must remain the same. |

| The steppers and G540 will only use as much amps as they need. You could have a 27volt, 200amp supply and the Gecko and motors would still only use as much as they need. Like your common house light bulb. There is a 20 amp capability, but it uses ~1/10 of an amp to light. If you are looking for an excuse to buy a new power supply though, I'd buy one with a lot more volts. The 48v. 7.3A ones are ideal. More volts means a slower power drop off as the motor spins faster. You WILL notice a difference with more volts. |
