g540 driver

I am wondering about some thing about the 540.
On my build I am useing 4 nema 23 motors and a gecko 540 to controll them.
what i would like to do is to add 2 more motors 1 for a rotory table and possably 1 for a 5th axis. I will be also useing mach3 .

# 1 do i need a second paraell port and add a second gecko ?
# 2 can you use 2 540 's together or do i need something else ?
# 3 does any one have a solution to add the extra 2 motors?

you can add a second printer port to your computer. Then add a break out board and 2 single drivers to get the results you want.

If your using mach 3 then you would simple setup the second printer port to the address of the card and set the pins to the motors to the pins on the break out board on the second port. Fairly easy to do actually.

Fairly easy in theory, but many add-on parallel port cards do not work with the
G540.

sound interesting , will have to do some more research . I would like to keep most of the setup the same . are their other bob's that have the same micro stepping as the g540 ? my friend heath has a g540 and i really like how smooth the motors run . They hardly makes a sound .
