I have read as much as I could find. I see no info on why a stpper would change direction for no reason. I would suspect noise. I have raised the debounce to 1000 with no difference. All my cabling is shielded and landed to chassis ground of the machine. I do not have any limit switches connected yet either. If I jog and hold the key down it will go for a distance and for no reason will start going the other way. If I lift up on the key and press it again, it might go either direction! There doesnt seem to be a method to the madness. Ideas? Opinions? Silence doesnt work though Thanks |

| I don't believe that the debounce affects the dir signals. Measure the voltage on the dir pin at the drive, when jogging in both directions. It should be 0V in one direction, and 5V in the other. More than likely you're not providing enough voltage for the drive to know which direction to go.

| Fastest1, If you have a intermittent connection on the direction pin "loose wire" that will cause what you are describing. I have also seen a bad solder connection on a direction pin of a breakout board do the same thing. Jeff...

| Is the voltage adjustable? The drive will have a voltage requirement. Most need 5V, although some will work with 3.5Volts. Depends on your drives.

| Yes, the PP voltage.
