    Default Upgrade to gecko drives

I'm debating upgrading my DIY machine from cheapie cw8060 (y and slave for y) and cw230 (x and z) to gecko drives -- in just wondering has anyone else upgraded and did you notice a difference - and what differences did you notice ?

Everything is currently wired to a simple parallel break out board but I'm considering an Ethernet smooth stepper down the road as well.

I'm running 36v power right now (two smaller drivers are limited to 40v max). I'm considering upping voltage as well as I've been told I'm not getting the most from my steppers at 36v.

    Thanks in advance

Get a 72 VDC PS if the motors can handle it. Then I guarantee that you will see a remarkable difference in speed and performance with Gecko's.
I have owned a lot of them over the years. I just sold my last two home made machines that have gecko's in them. You can expect excellent performance, durability and customer service from Gecko.
    You will not be disappointed.

Not sure about my motors - the two main motors are from Anaheim automation 34y series 1200 oz-in matched pair. The gantry motor is a 700 oz in nema34 and the z axis is a 400 oz-in nema 23. All are 8 wire. The y/slave pair can handle 5 amps series wired or 10 amps parallel (I have them series wired at the moment). The x and z can handle 3 amps. There isn't any mention of voltage in any of the documentation
