Gecko G540 and Probotix Motors
Hi,
Can anyone share the proper wiring diagram for hooking up the Probotix Yellow Motors to a Gecko G540?
Motor wire color to Gecko pin location would be ideal.
The Probotix web site doesn't really have complete documentation for this motor and I don't want to damage my G540 (again) by hooking the motors up wrong.
Thanks,
Jon

If there are 4 wires coming out of the motor, connect A+ and A- to two pins that have continuity. Connect B+ and B- to the other two pins.
You are done, but you might have to reverse the direction.

Re: Gecko G540 and Probotix Motors
I have done the 8 wire yellow motors and G540. Unfortunately I don't have that machine (was made for my dad) and can't look.
I worked it out from the Probotix moyor pdf. I think the witing diagram on the right is the one you want. They are poorly labelled. I'm on my phone and can't find the pdf sorry.

Re: Gecko G540 and Probotix Motors
Hi,
Terribly sorry for my slow reply, I unexpectedly had to put this project aside for a while. Back to it now and thank you very much for your reply and the information above, it is hugely helpful.
The Yellow motors at probotix have little documentation, what is available is below. There is no voltage specified but I have run these yellow motors at up to 40v, I plan to run them with an AN-4435 with a bridge rectifier to convert to 24V DC.
280 Oz In. Hybrid
1.8° /200 Steps Per Rev.
3 Amps Current Per Phase
8-wire Uni-polar or Bi-polar
NEMA 23 Frame
A while back I had decided to hook these motors up as bi-polar series with a 2k current limiting resistor for low end torque.
Can you verify if that is appropriate?
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Gecko G540 and Probotix Motors
I just double checked my power supply voltage and recall now that it is running at 50V, if that matters.
Also checked all my wiring which is bipolar series with 2k limiting resistors, thinking about bumping those up to 3A if everything works ok for a couple of weeks.
