Soory, 5's and 8's are up, but 2's arent available.. though I imagine a person could take an 8 and scale it by 4 to get a 2.. maybe.. I just never recieved any specs on the 2's..

Sorry for the confusion, I'm not sure what your are referring to when you say the 5 and 8s are up? 5 and 8mm pitch HTD, GT2, PolyChain Carbon?

Do you have a link to what types of belt profiles your software will currently produce?

That is a great line up! I think I will have to put a purchase through. I got produce some prototypes of some sprockets and this would do the trick for most of our needs.

Thank you for clearing that up. Glad to confirm it.

SO basically I can create a timing pulley in an pitch and tooth count and then cut it with a normal endmill of the correct size on the CNC...just wanted to confirm.

So I carved out my first timing pulleys using my freshly purchased Gearotic software. These are just the prototypes and are to be cut in aluminum after I double check the fit and all.

The specs are 14T and 51T 8mm GT2 Powergrip** and are cut to 17mm width for a 12mm belts.

So the reason for the ** was I originally designed this project around the idea I would be using the Polychain not the Powergrip. Well I apparently didn't study the compatibility charts very well because they are not compatible at all. It's kind of odd that they are even both 8mm pitch belts because it doesn't wrap around the pulleys at all (as gates states it wouldn't).

Anyhow I was going to email mail Art about it too, but I figured I would see if there was any hope of getting the polychain profiles added in future versions as it really is an amazing belt system. In addition it would be great if timing pulleys were listed maybe as GT2-5M and GT2-8M just for clarity sake and hopefully in the future Polychain-8M too!

So if I stick with powergrip I have to go up to a 20mm wide belt to get around 30% less power handling than the 12mm polychain

The Poly Chain is quite different, & is for low speed high torque, it is not better than the Power Grip, both have a different aplication

    Timing Pulleys

    Hi:

Well, I have to say those are pretty good looking timing belts.

Im not a person who actually uses belts..Im more into gears. DO I understand you correctly that the current GT's shoudl be labeled as GT5-M etc.. Or woudl that be the timing poulleys youd like to see added that would need the M designation?
The problem with timing belts is always that the pulley specs are hidden, secret or distorted purposely to ensure noone copies them. Getting the specs
of the current belts was like pulling teeth.

One user has access to them at a technical library that will only let you read the specs if you dont copy them or write them down.. how useless is that?

If you can find any real spec on ones you desire.. let me know, Im usually happy to attempt to add them as anopther type.

    Thx

Post 17 is correct for what you have already done, with the GT2-5 & GT2-8 these are Power Grip Profiles

What magudaman wants is a different Belt profile Poly Chain it is still the same GT2 family
But has a deeper tooth profile

    The M means Metric

    pulleys

Ahh, I see. Well, hopefully Ill come acrosss the actual specs for them at some point. Im just working on the escapement capcbility now, and building a plexiglass clock to demo it. Then Ill be looking at whatever I add next. The program is starting to get pretty useful as its options increase..

    Thx
