Anybody out there using linear encoders with Geckodrive Grex G100? I'm thinking about using a Renishaw 0.5 micron resolution scale tape and readheads for a machine I'm building. Looking for feedback from those who have done it. I already know there can be backlash issues... |

| We do not recommend linear encoders, because of backlash issues. Unless you are using a toothed-belt and pulley, which works very well because of its minimization of backlash but does not work in milling machines due to its limitations, a linear encoder is not ever recommended. The only way you could do it is with a dual-loop system, but we do not support those so I suppose that is a moot point. -Marcus Freimanis |
