Smile Power Supply & Case - Really Nice!

    Bird_E,

Any chance on getting information about building a power supply like you created? Parts list, link to suppliers, etc...

    Thanks,

    Matt

Here is a link for all of you that are wondering about where to find a case/enclosure like this. http://www.par-metal.com/

Heh! Just found this thread, so I'm late to the party. I saw the GRex rack mount case for the router and felt a kindred spirit. Here's my own rack mount GRex system for my CNC lathe:

I need to take a more recent picture of it, as it is finished at this stage. I have a matching rack mount PC as well with a touch panel swing arm that goes on top:

It looks a little zany, but its great to have it all together like that. You can read more about all this on my web site if you want the details on these power supplies and so on:

    http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCLatheCNCHome.htm

I bought my rack enclosures from an eBay seller called "Antec". Not sure if they still exist or not. They were very nicely done and cost about $70.

One thing that's really cool about the GRex is it means you can have 1 PC easily controlling 2 CNC systems without them fighting over the parallel port. I have the GRex controlling my lathe via LAN, and the parallel port is being used to control a little mini-router:

The downside of the GRex has been poor support and it's generally been a lot slower coming together than expected. It is still not all there for lathe support, but seems to me it would be fine for mills, routers, and plasma tables.

    Best,

    BW

Avel toroidal transformers (Y236801 for example) are available at www.partsexpress.com for $74.29 plus shipping.
