    problems with our new machine

    hello folk
    the company i work for recently bought a hyundai turning centre with a fanuc ot control, the machines 10 years old!!!

    problems tapping, i'm trying to using G84 keep getting a ps alarm saying incorrect g code??? this also applies when tyring to deep hole drilling

    Your machine is probably not able to use the G80 series of Programs, I would think you have G70-G76 codes. The machine probably does not have rigid tap so assumming that, I usually use a pull-out or compression tap holder and program as follows.

    Z.2
    G98G32Z-(DEPTH OF THREAD)F(1/#0F THREAD)M5
    G32Z.2M4
    M5
    G99Z1.0

    M01

    PROGRAM THE FEED GOING IN AS A SLIGHT AMOUNT LESS AND THE FEED COMING OUT A SLIGHT BIT MORE SO THE THREAD DOES NOT PUSH OR PULL ON THE TAP.

    Your machine doesn't support G84 that's what it's mean.
    The best way to learn is trial error.
