Exclamation 90deg program rotate

Ok, I know that what I have here is not advanced enough to do this, so maybe you guys can help me figure out how to make this work.

Our company runs an older fanuc controller and amada pega turret punch press. Our primary method of programming is an old DOS computer and New Dawn Systems part preview program, and they've been doing it this way for the better part of 10 years.

I have 4 programs that orient a part in a direction that is very much less than ideal for metal usage, so I'd like to turn the part 90 degrees so that I can use the g73 mirror function to stagger parts on the sheet and get more yield from the metal.

Unfortunately, it'd be quite a task to completely reprogram it, and I have no ideas as far as ways to rotate the program. Any help?

Thanks,
Jason

IF your control can support Coordinate rotate, it's a snap. Usually a G68 command. I imagine its the same on a punch. For machine centers it goes something like this:

G68X0Y0R90.

... with XY being the point of rotation and the "R" for angle.
"G69" cancels the rotation mode.

This is an OPTION for FANUC controls. Some machine builders added it as a standard, others left it as an option.

Psychomill said it just right. G68 coordinate rotation is the way to go. What model fanuc control do you have?

I must be confused. We use G68 here as a nibbling ARC function.

Controller is an Amada-Fanuc-P 6M, and the Turret is a Pega-345 K

You're probably not confused... some MTBs or machine types will have some difference in code.

Now, your G68 may still be functioning the same way for nibbling arc. But this could cause issues if you G68 within a G68... not sure on a Amada.

What you need to look for is something along a "Coordinate Rotation" code in a programming book.

Between the programming manual I have, and the power of google...I'm not finding crap.

Everything online says g68, and the book says nothing. Perhaps its just not supported.

... and that's not unheard of either where a MTB doesn't offer certain functions of a control. Another reason is that it may not be a "standard to industry" so to speak for a particular machine type. I've never programmed a cnc punch so I can't say for sure. I'm awfully suspicious of your "arc nibbing" command though.... I suspect its using the "common" function of a G68 to accomplish this. Can you post some code where you using the G68? Maybe some of us can tell what this particular application is...

I have a manual from an old Amada laser that may help. Try G65 P9050 X, Y, E, A, B, R.
X = Center
Y = Center
E = Scaling Raito( 1= 1:1)
A = Center X to rotate around
B = Center Y to rotate around
R = Rotating Angle
