| Why not use G72 End Face Stock Removal Cycle? This has an advantage over G94 if you need to edit the program to take off different amounts. Using G94 if one piece only needs .05 taken off and then another need .45 you have to add or remove several of the Z lines following the G94. Using G72 you only need to change the starting Z position ahead of the G72 line.

| I think it is mostly personal preference. I use G72 becasue I do a lot of one-offs and many times my stock is not cut accurately to length; as I say it is easier to edit G72 to face off a larger amount. But it doesn't guarantee you will not forget to do the edit in which case you try to take off maybe half an inch in a single cut; doesn't hurt the machine but normally wipes out the insert and sometimes the holder if you have wandered away from the machine.

If the stock is inconsist why waste you time try to face it.......... it's so much faster just use cutoff tool cut off the extra material, save you a lot of cycle time with one path.
