Smile Boss programing

I have a series one bridgport with a boss 10 cnc control. This machine sit in my garage for 5 years, now have it running. The problem is I know very little about programing any cnc. Have been studying some books but really don't quite know how to go about writing a program. Would like to do this in MDI mode or MDI store. Have no computer hookups for back ports of machine. My question for example, how is a program written for say a hole pattern 3.625" x 4.625". I'am sure this is a very simple question for any cnc user but I'am not there yet.

Thank You

Boss programing

There should be a round plug in under a rubber hood on the right hand cabnent on the opperator's side of the machine look's like a small range hood There will be two plug's If it is like my BTC programing at the key pad is verry frustrating been there done that got the T shirt If there is not a pluge I think you can wire into the control search BPT part's on Ebay there is a seller from was. state I think that makes a kit to bypass the stock plug with a cable and a program to com with the control If your part's are simple write in notepad and inport to the mill PM. or email ktaylor253@earthlink.net Good luck Kevin

Don't know anything about a Boss 10 control, but if it is anything like a Fanuc control, you don't write a program using MDI. MDI allows only a few blocks of information to be input. Also hitting RESET or shutting down the machine deletes your program.

To enter a program on screen in a Fanuc control, type in the letter "O" with the desired program number. Press ENTER. Do not use EOB until after pressing ENTER. New program won't be created if you do.

Now type in your program. Programming this way sucks big time. At the very least you should try to find out how to download a program off a laptop. This requires a connecting cable and a software program for downloading. Can't help you there as our shop used tapes before going to DNC. I worked part time for awhile at a company that did the programming on a desktop using MasterCam, and then copied the file onto a floppy which was put into the laptop and then downloaded onto the machine. This is still light years ahead of programming on the control. You will forever be thanking me.
