Need help programming Okuma LB9 I have just learned CNC programming, Okuma codes, and I find it difficult. I could use some help. I have linked my "assignment", I need help to get it finished. I have a "task" to make 4 pieces to a bed. These 4 ends are steel, and will be produced in a Okuma LB9 machine. This is what i've got of information : Aditional info : * I have 4 x stock, length 80mm, diameter 45mm * Material is steel * Coarse cut : *** Spindle speed 200 m/min *** T050505 *** Nose radius 0,8 mm *** Thread angle 60 degrees *** Thread pitch 75 degrees * Fine cut : *** Spindle speed 300 m/min *** T010101 *** Nose radius 0,4 mm *** Thread angle 55 degrees *** Thread pitch 93 degrees *** Allowed nose radius compensation on the last fine cut * Thred Cutting M42x3, look af pix *** Spindle speed max 75 m/min *** T040404 *** Profile angle 60 degrees * Largest cut area is 0,9 mm^2 * Max feed-rate 0,3 mm * Max cutting depth 3,5 mm * Maximum spindle speed 4500 rpm I hope someone can help me, cause this is kind of a new area for me E. | EquinoxNOR, You have strange ways of stating your tooling! When referring to "Thread Angle" and "Thread Pitch" are you actually referring to the included angle of the selected tools? Is the Thread Pitch actually the front angle of the tool? i.e. angle from the centreline of the job (along Z)? When describing "Turning" tools reference is not generally made to details referring to threading! Like zoolander has stated I beleive that you should be helping yourself by showing us what you have acheived so far! If you are working on an assignment for some training program how are you going to learn if you are just handed a fully working program without knowing what it does? Also, while you can certainly ask for help from the wider community, and get it, if you sit an exam or are in a job situation, there will be no-one to help you! Let us help you by all means but help yourself first, this will earn you much more respect than just crying for help in the first instance! Anyway, if you can answer these few questions I will be glad to assist someone on the road to learning programming... Are you allowed to use "Canned Cycles"? ie G85 for roughing or G87 for finishing? Are you using Constant Surface Speed control (G96) or do you have to use an optimised fixed spindle speed (G97) for roughing and finishing? You only state surface speed so I assume that you will be using Constant Surface Speed. When Screw Cutting, you MUST use fixed spindle speed or you will be getting all sorts of problems with your thread! What kind of infeed pattern would be acceptable for the screwcutting cycle? Straight in, LH or RH flank feed, Zig Zag? Constant Depth of cut or reducing DOC? When teaching apprentices programming such as what you are showing us, I ask them to write out all the information in a series of steps that can then be converted to the actual codes that the machine will run. Such as: Start with sending tool to "Home" at rapid. Setup Max Spindle Speed (For Safety) Select Initial Spindle Speed, gear selection range (if your machine uses gear range select that is) and start spindle and coolant. Move to start point for first tool, also selecting first tool Setup Constant Surface speed (if required) Select Canned cycle along with its parameters Define toolpath Rapid to a point clear of the part. Set Constant RPM Retract to Home Posn Next tool etc... I will go no further with this example until you help us and yourself by showing us what you have done so far...
