Hello, All ! My first post. I have been threadmilling on a Fadal for a while, and it works great. I am trying to get our Matsuura, Fanuc 6M-B to threadmill, and I get an alarm when the program hits the line where all three axis move. My question is, can my machine do 3 axis movement? I have checked the obvious, offset registers, correct G-code etc., but I still get an 021 alarm. I am using the free software that comes from the threadmill company to generate the G-code. Thanks for any help. |

| The Fanuc 6M had an option called "helical interpolation", which would let you make a circle in X-Y while moving the Z axis. Without the option, you will get an alarm saying that you're moving too many axes at a time. The option parameter is 003, bit #2 (the 3rd bit from the right). If it's a "1", then you've got the option, if it's a "0", then you don't. |

| The problem is not having the option. If you don't have helical interpolation you can use some CAM software like MasterCAM to do it. When posted it will look like alot of .001 - .002 long 3 axis movments. This does work though. However you'll need plenty of memory. |

You are correct sir, We had a 6M many many moons ago and we did thread milling. You have to generate the program thru mastercam or other software. You will end up with a program with about 1200 lines so yes have plenty of memory. I wish I could remember the "Big Wee's" number I would call him and ask him how he did it. This guy taught me all kinds a neat stuff back in the day. This would have been about 1984. The guy was the Einstien of CNC back then. IT CAN BE DONE GRASSHOPPER, Bluesman |
