slow stepping / stopping through lines

I am using Mach 3 for a custom CNC aplication and I am finding that when it is moving small distances in multiple consecutive lines it seems to move through them very slowly and not smooth. I would like for it to keep a constance movement instead of stopping in between each line.
Is tere a gcode I am not using that would stop this or is it a setting in Mach 3?
