    Here is one...

Too, are you looking for What the G codes mean?
Or how to program using M and G codes?

If it's the latter, the Google "Basic CNC programmning" or some such rather that "G code" programming.

    HTH.
    Good luck.

Thanks for such a quick response,
the pdf was exactly like the kind of thing im looking for thank you, only im after a little more in depth coverage. In fact if there were no pages skipped over in the sample you linked it would be perfect. Does this exist for free or will i need to purchase one outright.

ive had no problems in the past 10 years producing workable programs for my 2 axis wire m/c. The post processor was set up correctly to convert my cad file. Since the purchase of new machinery and software to suit the available post processor for the cad supplied is adding lines of unwanted code.

Having never actually done a foundation course in cnc programing i wanted to start at the bottom so as to understand fully what the code is saying.

anything you could suggest you think might be of use to me, id be very greatful.

    thanks again

I have no idea, that was just a quick search, you'll have to look into it further.

This is a common complaint about CAM, though it's not their fault.
They have to cover any condition that may arise and prepare for the worse case.
They have to produce code that will get the job done in a variety of coditions that may or may not apply to your specific instance.
Not the most elagent solution but more of a brute force approach.

The best way to learn would be to look at the code being produced by CAM system and understand all of the output.
Form there understand what can be remove and why.
Then form there modifying exsisting code to suit new projects.
Then finally, generating unique code for new projects.

Too this board is a good place for those who help themselves.

    Good luck

Whether you do one of the online courses or PDF's it is a good idea to get a comprehensive reference such as CNC programming by Peter Smid.
You can also practice without crashes on free simulators such as Cncsimulator.com.
