Set up your steps/mm to 200times any microstepping amount (8x for 1/8, 10x for 1/10, ....), then tell the machine to move 1mm.
HI all,
I am not new to cnc but I am a newbie to G code programming. All of my previous experience is in ESSI.
Here is my problem. I have just finished building my cnc router and have started setting it up. I am using USBCNC to control it. My Z axis is driven by an ACME thread and my initial pitch measurement is wrong so I am looking to measure the actual linear movement of the Z axis for 1 complete turn of the motor.
So can I program the controller to rotate only the Z axis stepper motor for 1 complete turn only so that I can measure the linear distance travelled with a DTI?
Regards
Ian

Thanks for the info.
I ended up altering the step count a bit at a time and measuring the travel distance on my DTI. I think I have it to within 0.1mm over 25mm now. I just need to sort out my travel limits now and get the machine running faster.
