I use Emacs as my text editor of choice, and found it was lacking highlighting for G-Code files. I implemented this, and posted instructions on my blog if anyone is interested. Also, the EMC Wiki notes that there is G-Code syntax highlighting already implemented for Vim and Gedit. I haven't tested these myself, but presumably they work.
