G Code programing

OK, Here is part of the GCode I typed, I guess
I am on the right track. If this is not right please let me know. If so,
then I have a bunch of typing to do. This is just a simple straight cut
to do my pen/pencil sets

G0 is for fast forward.
G1 for your nominated feed.

Not right. I'd get a book on CNC programming if I were you. G0 or G00 is rapid motion, no feedrate. It's also modal, meaning once you call it, it stays until you call another type of movement, like G1 or G01 linear interpolation, which also requires a feed rate "F". Lots of other problems here, and many unanswered questions. Best get to the books!

Got a pic or a sketch of what you want? You're way off on your g code and I'd be glad to help. After u see the program properly written you'll probably start to understand it.

Thanks for the reply,
I am new at this cnc stuff.
I need some help on this g code programming.
Could someone show me a couple of lines on what I typed.
What I'm trying to do is cut down 5/8" x 5/8" x 5" square and making it round
for pen and pencil sets. The g code I typed did worked but it seems it would stop
in the middle of what it was doing and just sit there..
Do they have a book of G Code for Dummies, cause I will need that one for sure...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Glen

I think that this can be the way of programming, but really I can´t understand the path. I will use depth as a negative value instead of Z0.

Sorry but none of this makes any sense to me. That looks like alot of nonsense to me. There is a book by Peter smid on cnc programming which is pretty good.

Try posting an image of the "line" you want to create.
The advice about G0/G1 are correct and necessary.

G0 is the rapid command to get where you need to start "drawing" ( you stated pen/pencil activity)

G1 is when you are actually drawing, pen on the surface. You will need to specify a feed rate to accompany this.

The path you typed doesn't make much sense. You are going back to the same starting point and making the line .001 longer each time. The end result is basically a single line from x-.001 to x.0061. The only possible visible effect is that you will have enough ink at x-.001 to tear the paper.

You are making a dashed line, except your dashes on top of each other.

I am cuttng a peice that is 5/8"w x 5/8"w x 5"L
I am turning on a lathe, if you look at what I'm doing
it makes since, I am cutting from one end to the other end, then
coming back to the beginning to start cutting again taking a little bit at a time.
Once I have gotten it round I will start cutting a little more..

It might help us to help you if you'd tell us what machine/control you are doing this on.
