OK, Here is part of the GCode I typed, I guess I am on the right track. If this is not right please let me know. If so, then I have a bunch of typing to do. This is just a simple straight cut to do my pen/pencil sets g0 x0.0010 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g0 z-0 g0 x0.0021 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g0 z-0 g0 x0.0031 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g0 z-0 g0 x0.0041 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g0 z-0 g0 x0.0051 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g0 z-0 g0 x0.0061 g0 z02 g0 x-0 g0 z-0

| Thanks for the reply, I am new at this cnc stuff. I need some help on this g code programming. Could someone show me a couple of lines on what I typed. What I'm trying to do is cut down 5/8" x 5/8" x 5" square and making it round for pen and pencil sets. The g code I typed did worked but it seems it would stop in the middle of what it was doing and just sit there.. Do they have a book of G Code for Dummies, cause I will need that one for sure... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Glen

| I think that this can be the way of programming, but really I can´t understand the path. I will use depth as a negative value instead of Z0. g0 x0.0010 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g1 z-0 x0.0021 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g1 z-0 x0.0031 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g1 z-0 x0.0041 g0 z02 x-0.0010 g1 z-0 x0.0051 g0 z02 g0 x-0.0010 g1 z-0 x0.0061 g0 z02 g0 x-0 g0 z-0 good luck |

| Try posting an image of the "line" you want to create. The advice about G0/G1 are correct and necessary. G0 is the rapid command to get where you need to start "drawing" ( you stated pen/pencil activity) G1 is when you are actually drawing, pen on the surface. You will need to specify a feed rate to accompany this. The path you typed doesn't make much sense. You are going back to the same starting point and making the line .001 longer each time. The end result is basically a single line from x-.001 to x.0061. The only possible visible effect is that you will have enough ink at x-.001 to tear the paper. You are making a dashed line, except your dashes on top of each other. |

| I am cuttng a peice that is 5/8"w x 5/8"w x 5"L I am turning on a lathe, if you look at what I'm doing it makes since, I am cutting from one end to the other end, then coming back to the beginning to start cutting again taking a little bit at a time. Once I have gotten it round I will start cutting a little more..
