Hi guys I am new in this so i would appreciate any help. all programs I have, are written from top of the work part and I always have to measure tools (height) for every part. So i would like to measure tools on table (bottom surface of part) and add height difference in program if it's possible. ...move G54 from program or something... |

| You can set your tools to any guage height that you wish. There is no requirement to use the top of the job. The difference between the gauge height and the job height goes in the Z register of your current work offset. I would advise that you use a gauge height that is higher than your top of job to set your tools to, rather than directly to the table. This is because some controllers will give you grief if you do a toolchange and the machine executes the length offset as a distinct machine motion which will send the tool to Z0 of the current work offset. So if you set all the tools to a gauge above the job height, then you can avoid those crash situations. Some machines don't have enough travel to set a stubby tool directly to the table, anyway.
