I just need something simple, I dont need any fancy functions. Infact notepad works pretty well but I am looking for something with a little more functionality such as coloring different groups of codes different colors, and the ability to have more than one program open at the same time side by side for using multi spindle machines. I wish there was something that could show each $ from a citizen machine in their own respective windows, other than their own software but that is asking for too much. Is there anything? I looked into predators free light version but they havnt gotten back to me yet with a password, and it has pretty much exactly what I want in the editor, but I do not need all the other fancy stuff it comes loaded with. It is amazing what it can do but I need nothing more than something to use at home. If all else fails I think I will try to whip something up myself |

| One program I like for text editing is "Textpad" It is very powerfull,, and It is fully functional with a Nag at startup... It can record and playback macros, custom color/syntax definitions, advanced find/replace functions with regular expresions... IE you can find ".\n" this will find a period "." followed by a new line "\n" (enter/return) |

| Notepad++ is a good notepad upgrade. It has a variety of programming language auto-identifiers built in (although all of them are computer languages) and I used to have it setup to highlight G-Code for me. It is free and open-sourced so its Free as in Beer and Free as in Freedom.

| One of the best text editors I have found is Context www.contexteditor.org I have a highlighter setup for mastercam postprocessors. I have not used it for nc editing since I use the mastercam editor. But I like that they have a portable one I have installed on my flash drive so my software goes everywere with me. |
