Default Newbie need help for FEED RATE for Z and X,Y axis

    Hi there.

what is the general rule for Feed Rate setting for wood?

Should the Feed Rate for x,y axis faster that z axis? or they should be the same?

I think I' m not doing it right sychronizing the Feed Rate for z and x,xy axis in cutting woods and mdf.

I observe the router like being "choke" and unsual noise can be heard like cranking then x axis change its origin!

is this Feed Rate problem ?

Typically the Z feed is slower than the XY cutting speed, but this depends on exactly what you are doing and the material. Mostly it depends on your machine power and tooling. A light machine will not allow high feed rates.

Play with the feed rates until your machine is happy.

Typically, Z feedrate is one-third of XY feedrate. And, bottom-cutting tool should be used, for digging in Z.

Go as fast as you can, as long as the cut quality is acceptable. This will give you maximum tool life. But there are many, many factors that have an affect on this.

As fas as Z axis feedrate? It depends on what you are doing. If you are talking about plunging, my recommendation is to never plunge, as it's hard on the machine and tools.
If you are doing 3D carving, a slow Z axis will restrict the speed of the X and Y axis.
