    Default G41 and G42 understanding

    Hello every one Iam new to cnc zone and I want to under stand the (G41) and (G42) what I think this function to do when chang the tool its this code are apply the new offset of the new tool ... is this right or wronge?

    Those codes are cutter compensation. They move the toolpath so that the tool runs either to the "right" of the toolpath (G42) or the left of the toolpath (G41). If you are on an industrial machine, the tool offsets should pull up with a simple G41 or G42, otherwise you will specify a D(X) command to pull up a previously specified tool offset. Turn off cutter compensation with G40. Do not turn off cutter comp while in the part and make sure you turn it on before feeding in to the part.
