Default CNC cook book / G Wizard Editor

I stumbled across CNC cookbook and I am blown away by the approach and the content of the training modules.

I know most of the users here are well versed in G Code and would see this as Kindergarten but for a total noob like me this seems excellent.

I am about to pull the trigger on $130USD for a seat on G Wizard editor and calculator.

This is a chunk of change for me, I am unemployed (apprentice Millwright with some basic manual mill experience). I have a good shot at an operator helper position and figure knowing a bit about the code would be a good thing.

I also have aspirations of converting my G0704 to a cnc Mach3 machine and I have a seat on Fusion 360 from tech school........

I there a reason why I should steer clear of this?
Has anyone had experience with this company?

I have found surprisingly little about them on the Zone

I downloaded their demos. The calculator app looks impressive, but I couldn't get the G-code editor to run. It uses Adobe products, and after several house of troubleshooting and checking drivers, adobe issues, etc I finally gave up on it. Did you go ahead with the purchase? if so what do you think of it? Do you think this is something one would use after they gain some experience or is it just a learning aid that would get tossed aside later?

Hi, about 2 years ago I finally got the CNC mill I ordered from China and came across the article by Bob Warfield on CNC cook book where he gave the first 9 G code symbols that will get you up and running and writing a program etc.

I might add that I was and still am a total noob when it comes to anything CNC as I'm a manual miller from way back

With those simple 9 G code commands I was able to start writing a G code program that moved the axes where I wanted them to go.....the rest was adding to them as the occasion arose......and a lot of extra help from the people on here too.

Have a search around on google for a fanuc manual most machine control programs are based on fanuc, there is a tonne off good info in them you can use with most machines, Also the manual NC in the fusion cam you can put these codes to use in there.

The probing in fusion is renishaw based More to the haas version of G codeing than fanuc but it's very close.(This is at the moment it will cover more as time goes on).

Mach3 is fanuc based same with Mach4.

It would help your learning about Machine control coding, what is Macro-B/sub routines haveing G Wizard, It would make you look good if you know the basic stuff.
