    86 meg video

I've got an 86 meg video that was given to me and that is not copyrighted. The video is done in a CAD system that I don't own but that I feel has technology that should be in other CAD/CAM systems but unfortunatly isn't.

The video is not a sales presentation, has no sales blurbs, phone numbers, etc. What the video is, is a very, very advanced product being modeled start to finish and captured as it's done with a video screen capture product called Camtasia... of which Camtasia provides a free viewer that can be downloaded from their site or freely distributed.

This video is without a doubt *the most impressive thing I have ever seen done in a CAD/CAM system* and I feel it would be inspiring for many because it shows what inspired CAD technology can do for someones creativity.

I have not been able to find a site to post this video so I can share it with others as I would love to find out if others have the same "wow" reaction I have had from viewing it.

    Any ideas ?

I have limited upload bandwidth (512k), but would be happy to set up an ftp for it.

Or you could share it via a file sharing application

Roughly how long would it take for someone to download this file from your ftp site using a high speed connection ?

I would also be willing to take a look, see if it can be compressed without significant loss and I could put it on my http server on my home computer. I could too set up an ftp for you to upload it to.

80meg would take about an hour to download off my 20KBps connection(192kbps up)

If we had a few mirrors for people to download from, it wouldnt be much of a problem. I wouldnt want to have it there forever though.
edit- just PM me and Ill set it up.

With a perfect connection, it would take someone about 23minutes @ 512kbps.

    Thumbs up

Here's the info. File has already been uploaded.

    IP address - 63.173.39.175
    Login - cnczone
Password - cadcam (note: password is case sensitive)
    Port - 21
    Max users - 3

I leave my PC on 95% of the time during the day. At night, it's hit or miss. But will try to leave it up the next few nights.

I have no problem if you guys want to use this for anything machining related (or anything related to the topics of this website). But I'm going to keep an eye on it, and will deleted anything that is not appropriate. IP address of user that uploaded may also be banned. I am not allowing delete privilages for anyone. If you need something deleted, simply let me know via PM.

I use the drive I have this set up on for making backups of DVD's for friends (yes, of their originals ). So at any given time, there is anywhere between 2GB and 100GB free. Right at this second, there is 7GB free.

If you find any problems, let me know (for instance if you find that I somehow gave everyone full access to my C: drive).

    Hi.
I must be doing something wrong..my ignorance leads me to believe that there is more to it than just entering the IP numbers.
I get a message that the IP cannot be found.

    Help,
    Bloy

You can use IEexplorer (but I wouldn't suggest it). in the address bar, type ftp://63.173.39.175

It will then ask you for your user name and password.

However, downloading an FTP client would be suggested. That way you can resume downloads and such. CuteFTP or BulletProof ftp is what I usually use. Both have trial versions at download.com.

Correction: That may not work. I tried it, and it never connects (keeps asking for login/password).

Just download an FPT client. Hassle free.

Not to mention if it doesn't work, you'll be able to see the reason on the softwares log screen.
