Hi, first I'd like to say WOW, this is a HUGE forum, seems to cover everything!!!
Okay, I was refered here by a co-worker as he said some how you can openly request quotes for machining work, I have a few items I need prices on to have made, qty would be anywhere from 20 of each to 300 of each depending on the various parts and the prices obviously. So, is there a specific forum here for that, and if so, do I just post the particulars, like the material required, and post a DXF file of the parts somewhere? How is the transaction made, paypal, COD, credit card????
Thanks.

Yes there is actually an Employment or need work section. You'll see it. This site is very helpful. Has helped thousands and thousands.

Well, I'm not looking for employment, I'm more looking for a shop, or a person with a small shop that wants to make me some parts. I work in a machine shop and tool manufacturing shop myself, but to be honest, we are just way to busy for the owner to even consider fitting what I need into his schedule for my little side projects.
So if I want a quote on something, I just post it in THIS forum, and what about a print, you would need a print, a DXF file or what?
Thanks![]()
rubberdown follow this link and it will take you to the RFQ/Employment forum.

As far as posting your files, some folks do and others don't depending on how proprietary (sp) the parts are. If you are comfortable in posting the files, you will get lots more hits quicker that if the potential shops have to email requesting the files.
I just let two good size orders that I posted here and everything went very smoothly, in addition to finding some good prices too.

i read somewhere here they were going to separate the two .
any news on that? it would be nice to seperate part quotes, from
other employment.
