This is on a PC only a few months old, XP pro with all updates, latest firefox update. I only have problems when posting replies here. No other problems whatsoever.

Ger21: that only leaves every computer and operating system and all the other stuff inbetween the server site and your ISP as being suspect.

My lame Win95b system OCCASIONALLY locks - it did so massively when the virus was present (BTW, I manually deleted some errant EXE's that got loaded during that issue) but seems to be free of the problem now.

I still get hi-jacks and unauthorized redirects but the site isn't hanging - much but it does so once in a while. Something else that I haven't found yet is clearly doing that (the redirects) - but I can't find a cleaner that still works with 95B, most need 98 or newer kernel. Even Avast for 95 won't run for some reason.

BTW, the 95b system does lock up when certain scripts are thrown at it - as in total reboot it lockups. Not even a restart of IE will "fix" it.

Come to think of it, the "redirect" problem I noticed may have coincided with/at the point in time when CNC Zone lock-ups may have started to occur or slightly before that.

It just might be time to D/L all my good info, wipe and reformat and reload from scratch. Trouble is, d/l'ing stuff on a 95 based system that you can't burn a CDROM with is REAL hard - that's why I haven't already done it.

I was told that some viral corruptions screw up stuff so badly, you can't "fix" them via even an overload of same O/S - you have to wipe and clean reload. Doing that is akin to watching paint dry.

The REAL reason this is all happening can be attributed to the perverse nature of inanimate objects.

lol....I like your 'real reason' NC Cams!

As an aside my laptop is also brand new with the software to boot and WinXP Media Center Edition. I recently switched to FF.......is anyone getting this problem with IE on a newer computer than NC Cams ?

I also just 'Go Advanced' now.

Edit: I didn't Go Advanced for this post and just got one in the top center of my screen saying 'Download the CNC toolbar here' with a pic and link. Im gonna take a screencap next time and send it to CNCAdmin, if thats ok with Paul? Might help identify the problem.

Sure that's fine, I need to see it as I have never experienced it, and I use the Quick reply only. I also surf cnczone on 4 different computers.

Okay, my first hang this morning @ 8:03 CST until 8:40 CST.

I was posting a quick reply on the General Machining Forum....clicked on Quick Reply......it just hung there until it timed out....reply was not posted....tried it 2 or 3 more times and eventually each one timed out without the QR being posted. Tried a refresh of the screen and the system just seemed to hang.

Restarted my system to insure I was not the problem and the DNS lookup for this site would never complete. It wasn't until 8:40 CST that I was finally able to get the DNS lookup to work. It appears to be a bandwidth problem with the hosting site, maybe too many people trying to logon or the hosting site is doing some maintenance at that time.

Server went down, that is why you had a lag.

    Exclamation

I thought it wasn't going to happen again since I said I'd take a screen cap, but it eventually did! I tried to send it to CNCAdmin but forgot that you cant put an attachment into a PM.

Here is the attached pic. Please remember that the banner is different each time, so don't focus on this one advertisement. Also, in the bottom corner it says "Transferring Data...", but it doesn't transfer, it just sits like this until I click the back button. Looking at it now, Im not sure how much info you can glean from this.

You're using firefox, that maybe why I never experience the problem.

Only started on FF two weeks ago, but can't remember if the problem started b4 that.
Im back on IE ver.6 now for a week to see if it happens. Will update you next weekend, or b4 if it arises again.

It has happened to me at time and I'm running IE5.5.

I also get cases where all a sudden the D/L will hang and NOTHING happens for 20-30 sec or more. It usually continues loading but it has hung.

Sometimes when typing a reply, same thing, the screen hangs and 20-30 sec later it will unfreeze - NO DATA is shown as being tranferred at the time of the hang.

In my lame opinion, I'd say that a script is running SOMEPLACE and it is hanging the processor someway/somehow.

Fortunately, it doesn't crash it terminally but it did so at a rare instance, especially after a post.
