    Cookie ID

Just wondering what the name was for the cookie generated here that 'remembers' my username, etc,,
I use a cookie manager, and it's handy for getting rid of junk or advertising related cookies..
anyways, the cookies that show with 'cnczone' I always save, but when I do a cleanup, I have to re-enter my userid and password on the main screen...
What's the 'extra' cookies that I should be saving??

    thanks

Definitely save the one that is in the cache that is "your_name@www.cnczone.com"

There is also one called "anyuser@www.cnczone.com" that should be saved.

Save these and you should be good to go.

NOTE: even if you save them, OCCASIONALY, you may have to re-log in.

Nope, it's something else that doesn't have "cnczone" in any part of the line...just tried again about 10 minutes ago, logged in automatically just fine, did a cleanup on the cookies, [none had cnc or zone or anything similar],back to the cnczone site, and it didn't even come up with my user name...

    any ideas?

    The file is:

    Code:
    Cookie:(Whatever User is logged in)@www.cnc.zone
Go to "Temporary Internet Files", Delete everything except
    Code:
    Cookie:(Whatever User is logged in)@www.cnc.zone
Close all open windows, re-open www.cnczone.com, you should still be logged in.

Now, go back to "Temporary Internet Files", and Delete everything, close all windows, re-open www.cnczone.com, you should NOT be logged in.

You can also go to "Temporary Internet Files", copy the
    Code:
    Cookie:(Whatever User is logged in)@www.cnc.zone
cookie to your desktop, open the file with Notepad, and look for your (cnczone) "User ID" number, look for "bbuserid#####".

If you want verify that number, do this. Go to www.cnczone.com, find a post that you wrote, put your cursor over your user name, it will show you at the bottom of the screen your user number.

vladdy, your user number is "2850", which should also be the same unique number in your cookie "bbuserid2850".

Also, If you don't close out the browser, and you delete the cookie, then you go on in the browser to a new page, it will re-write the cookie without you needing to login again, you can check that in the "Temporary Internet Files" (Last Modified),

The bottom line is, you need the cookie, to stay logged in, also the cookie expires exactly one year from your last login.

I don't think you understand when I mean 'cleanup'...
The userid@cnczone.com cookie is in the 'to keep' list, and yes it does show the user id number 2850, last vist, encrypted password, etc...
When I do a cleanup I delete cookie like 'mediaplex' and other similar adware / statistics type of sites...
I tried again a few minutes ago, shut down my browser, cleaned out maybe 20 cookies [none of which contained 'cnczone' with them] and opened up my browser, and selected cnczone again..
bingo, no userid showing in the top right corner....hmmm..
Checked on the vbulletin site, on the community forums, and they showed some problems with 3.61 that I noticed on user logout...I made sure I checked the 'remember me' box, and made sure cookies were enabled in my browser [avant], I do have my ad blocker enabled, and it does block the banner ads on this site ie: /forums/utopia/banners/
Odd error, just noticed it the last week / 10 days or so..but not consistently,
just a little stumped on this end..

I'm running the Google Toolbar (Block Pop-ups), and everything in my previous post works for me.

The only cookie I need is
    Code:
    Cookie:(Whatever User is logged in)@www.cnc.zone

Not sure _why_ it does it, it's erratic at best, and mostly when I access from this computer more so than the other ones here in the basement, all run W2k with Avant..
When I replied last night, I closed my browser, but didn't shut the system off, this one runs always on, when I checked email I had notification of a new post in this thread, and when I opened it up, I had to log in again, not just the password on cookie timeout [here may be 15 to 30 minutes, don't know], but also had to enter my userid..
It's not a big deal, just mildly annoying when I want to pop in for a few minutes and check new posts..
I don't think it happens to very many users, otherwise there would be more threads on this type of 'system enhancement'....
    oh well...

So many people are so paranoid about cookies, this site runs perfectly IF you accept cookies, I use this site and my other site and NEVER have a log in issue, the industry have feed this compulsion to fear a cookie, the will not hurt you don't believe read this article- http://www.kolias.com/computers/cookies.htm , I stoped reading emails about people having log in issuses, their just is no help for them, with all the programs blocking everything. The only setting I set in NOT to accept 3rd party cookies.

Actually, all cookies with 'cnczone' as part of them are automatically accepted with the cookie manager I run...I was just wondering if there were 'other' cookies that this site used that _didn't_ have 'cnczone' as part of the ID...I assume the log in problem is on _my_ end, that's why I was looking for some clarification...
I do block the ads on this site though, for the simple reason that some of animated ads [none of the static ones], over write the drop down on the search and quick links tab, but I don't see where that would affect logins in any manner..?

It's still a cookie accepting problem, what programs do you have installed? Do you have a firewall software? I use Zone alarm, a hardware firewall and no log in issuses on all 4 computers I use everyday. Norton, Macafee and many other cause more problems for surfing than they help.

Did a little more experimenting the last day or so...most of the time [like today] the system logs me in automatically just fine..
Last night I probably was on here six or seven seperate times, did the usual check for new posts of interest, wandered around a couple of photo galleries, the usual..
anyways, the spyware /adware software that I use, actually several..I have a strong objection to unwanted 'popups' and I dislike survey and / or statistics software that runs _without_ my knowledge or permission..
I noticed that occasionally I would get a cookie labeled as coming from doubleclick.net , which is one of the ones I clean out on a regular basis.
When I delete that cookie ID, then I have to log in again with both my userid and password on this site.
I don't think that cookie is generated 'internal' to this site, otherwise it should be appearing _every_ visit here, and it doesn't, so I assume it may be associated with one of the banner ads or similar???
All in all, I consider logging in on a sporadic basis preferable to some web surfing statistics software tracking my wandering around the net..
Again I mention that [to me anyways] it doesn't seem to origionate here, not directly anyways..

just my 3 cents worth..[should be higher with the way other prices are going ]

    enjoy..
