"Daily Posts" list is moving too fast these days.

When I started on this forum some time ago, it was possible to keep track of nearly all that was said in the forum. It was a more personal place where you sort of got to know most of the members.
These days if you make a post it dissapears down the list in a matter of minutes.
Its not unusual for a daily posts list to be 5 pages long. Theses days I skim through the daily posts lists to see if there is anything interesting. The problem with that is sometimes a person gives the thread a dumb title, that does not encourage me to look. Its only after the thread reappears because its been purposely bounced or the read numbers start to climb that it will inspire me to take a look.

Anyhow, I dont know the solution, but its interesting that we have this idea that big is better, sometimes too may members and too many subjects can blur the whole lot. Sort of like mixing lots of nice coloured paints together and getting a mruky brown.

This is not a critism of any one or any thing, It just an observation.

Any one got an idea of how to stay on top of it all in here?

Maybe an option of the forum sections we want to subscribe to can be sorted into a daily posts list for us?

Benny - I'm in the same boat (so to speak). I pop in every 6 months or so - and can't even try and catch up. Just staying current is a two hour effort. But the members are great and the diversity of ideas is so stimulating. I now have more projects on "back burner" than posts to catch up on.

It would be kinda nice if the length of some of the threads could be cut into "chapters" with sub headings - but configuration management/control of a living document is very difficult I suppose. And who would take the lead on that - the moderator - or thread starter? Just my dos centavos.

ynneb...."Ah, be a fast reader....or just focus on a few items that interest you." I focus on items that interest me (which basically means I've got a clue...) and then if there is "spare time" I'll read some of the others....unless the Title is really crappy....

Paul is going to go straight to the "mind-meld" and dispense with the daily post search
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

I know what you mean. The home computer is down and I if I'm lucky every two or three days I can get on the computer here at work to check up on things. A weekend and a couple of days can be murder, that's a lotta posts. I don't want you to think that I'm complaining, I'm not. Even with this many members, there are bound to be a lot of ideas floating around out there. This is a great site, without it I would still be pushing a pencil drawing things out. Now I'm making chips and annoying the "boss lady". Life is grand, thanks Paul.
If it's not nailed down, it's mine.
