so far as a glossary goes, I don't know if there is one here so I nominated you- you could right down down all the words and definitions as you discover them and make the cnczone glossary - here's a start
Ballscrew - lots of content here, 5bears has a detail tut on it, basically its a screw and nut with reciculating balls in between, unlike a typical thread, the rolling action of the balls minimizes friction. pic is worth a 1000 words. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...LG:en%26sa%3DN
board: an electronic circuit board
driver: an electronic device that takes signals from the computer (ie steps & directions) and 'drives' or sends the right amount of electricity at the right time to the motor connected to an axis.
cncmill: a machine that mills that is controlled by a computer (yeah, I know real helpfull, but the definition of mill is very broad)
there is no silver bullet because cnc covers so many areas, its a learning curve you've got to work at, the good news is the search function here will bring a wealth of knowledge and its a helpfull crowd so ask away

But, I'll warn you in advance!!! The zone is habit forming and you'll start thinking of all of the different apps for CNC. Once you spend sleepless nights working out a "problem" with your new toy, then seek help. Your hooked.
