Question back after 18 mo... how do i disable the overwelming advertisibg?

I've been out with medical issues for quite awile and came back to cnczone, which used to be my best info source. however, the ad density has gotten insane. i can't find anything w/o a struggle and can't concentrate with all the floating banners, flashing ads and video.

there are 4 full width banners before i can start editting my post... the edit fields are off the page bottom!

can this be disabled? noyhing in cp i saw... if not, can i pay someone so the forums are usable?

i know this is how you make money, but i have to say that it has really changed the feeling of the site. to me, it's gone from a community forum for sharing a passion to a revenue generating machine that happens to use cnc users to generate money. and that is a shame.

just my opinion, and i know life is never as simple as it appears. please don't blast me for being an idiot, there is no value ad there. there *is* value in posting your thoughts on the changes.

I think that the advertisers should be pushing for fewer ads.

When it gets overwhelming like this, people are more inclined to simply ignore all the ads, or resort to ad-blockers etc.

Well it does cost $$$ to keep a site this big site going, that is why we are the largest and most active site, servers aren't cheap. I do offer a option that would stop all ads- Membership Cost and Features also I've had the same ad spots running for 6 yrs or more...... so not sure how the density has changed.

I have to do what is need to keep the site FAST and UP 100%, and that takes money, with over 100K members....

are the chitika banners yours or are they spam ads , i only get them with my android and only on this site . i don't have any issue with the flash ads and it is what it is . But the chitika ads are floating and since my phone screen is small , by the time i can click the x to close it then ive hit other links that trail me from where i want to be
