    embedded links...

    I'm getting "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" quite a bit on embedded links. Something in my settings or is everyone getting this with the http://api.viglink.com/ redirects?

    The problem is sporadic. Two links just failed for me with a 404 (Not Found) error. Reload the page and they (usually) work.

    I've just about given up clicking links in pages because of the problem.

    Worked for me the first time? Is it taking you to the wrong link? I've never seen a link not working.

    Sounds like corrupted data. All of these links worked for me.
    Does reload (F5) in IE eventually work?
    Something in your computer could be causing interrupting network data.
    I get this sometimes when ISP system goes flakey. My broadand goes deaf for 10-20 seconds.
    ISP says reboot computer. What cr@p.
    Complain all you like. They will never admit that they have a problem.
    They only want your money.
    Do you have have other computers on same network (using same ISP) with the same problem?

    I have to agree with Ron "it is sporadic" however upon further testing it seems if I were to refresh the page the link works. I visit many other forums, only this is giving me some issues. No big deal I was just wondering if anyone else was having issues.

    Further to: embedded links...

    Embedded links are taking me to a page that returns 404 (not found) and the text:
    "Unknown API method: /api.viglink.com/api/click"

    It appears what is happening, is that the links are getting processed to go thru viglink multiple times.

    I loaded the thread page once, and performed "Copy Shortcut" on the link (from the thread) several times (a few seconds apart) and got changing (longer & longer) links!!!

    At least on the thread view, you appear to be loading the VigLink code multiple times. Once with:

    Code:
    < s c r i p t type="text/javascript">
              var vglnk = { key: '8fc203c6d53cfcf639464b616dec43af' };

              (function(d, t) {
                var s = d.createElement(t); s.type = 'text/javascript'; s.async = true;
                s.src = '//api.viglink.com/api/vglnk.js?key=' + vglnk.key;
                var r = d.getElementsByTagName(t)[0]; r.parentNode.insertBefore(s, r);
              }(document, 'script'));
            < / s c r i p t>
    And a second time with:
    Code:
    < s c r i p t language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://cdn.viglink.com/api/merged.js">
    I wonder if the two are fighting each other, continually applying more link tracking to the changes the other copy makes.

    The single post page (such as embedded links...) doesn't have the "http://cdn.viglink.com/api/merged.js" reference (pretty sure it's the culprit - old way of including viglink) and works fine - only changing the link once.

    I think the reason people report "Reload the page and they (usually) work." is because they are then focused on that link, and will quickly click the link before it's changed for the second (or any subsequent) time (within several seconds or so).
