I'm thinking of building my own 3 axis machines and you guys seem to have what I am looking for. I'm doing some research and noticed lots more mach3 users on this site. Why is that? Why should I use Flashcut rather than mach3? Asking for an explanation to help me decide. I want quality. |

| Flash cut works. It just works. It does not do as much stuffas mach3. but what it does it does well. I use both flashcut and mach3 on two different machines. It depends on what you plan to do. If you are just going to hobby around then go mach3. If you need to have a machine that does not depend on the mood of windows and want it to work right out of the box go with flashcut . I like them both. I tried mach3 when it was mach2 it was ok. Then bought flashcut version1, liked it alot it was more reliable. It has been upgraded through the years, now on version 4 flashcut. Mach3 is on my small machine that is used to make PC board. It works great as well, but every now and then the parrallel port puts out some funky pulses. Other than that both companies have good support. With flashcut you can call them on the phone and they will walk you through anything. Mach3 has great forum support lots of people will help you out. Looking at your last statement if you want quality. FLASHCUT is your choice |

| I originally used Mach3, it drove me nuts. I couldn't get the AutoZero function to work consistently. It would reset the origin points somehow. I ran it with a parallel port and a smoothstepper. The smoothstepper would freeze up. I couldn't stand it anymore and went with FlashCut. It works great and the support is great. Nothing against Mach3, but I think it has too many features that not everybody needs. My pc went down that I run my mill on and I loaded FlashCut onto my laptop and it runs with no problem. I'm in the process of getting a table router up and running and I can't believe that I am actually thinking about trying to run Mach3 on it. |
