    Default greasing ballnut on Saturn

Anyone figured out how to properly grease the ballnut on the Saturn z axis?

I use the same NLGI #2 grease that I use on the rack and pinion and linear bearings. I take the excess grease from the linear bearings and wipe it on the ballscrew with a gloved hand (Nitrile or vinyl). That seems to work just fine. After it begins to pile up at the top and bottom I take a Starbucks stir stick (or any small piece of wood) and redistribute it on the ballscrew.

How often are you greasing things? Wish there was some kind of a manual that came with the machine.

Seems like Nate told me to lube the linear bearings every 200 hours of operation. He said a good test is to wipe the rails with a clean white cloth and if you see grease then you're good, if not then it's time to lubricate. I've been doing a full lubrication of everything I can see on the machine about every 6 weeks or so depending on how often I've been using it.

I'm on two really large woodworking projects right now, at least large for me, and only about 10% of it is on the CNC so it's been idle quite a bit over the last month or so. In about two weeks I'll be running the CNC a lot so I'll give it a good check-up before I plunge in.
