I just checked ours for comparison - made it 30" high and the same size as the 2x4 Saturn. But 30" high has seemed to work for me but I'm not very tall - 5'10".

Well, I FINALLY got around to tying my Saturn to the wall. Simpson makes all kinds of hardware for seismic-ish purposes such as this
On short moves I'd get some shake in my stand. Maybe if I'd used 3" square tubing instead of 2"...
Anyway, I was slowing down my cuts... it just didn't seem happy over 100 inches per minute in the corners. I'm planning on cutting some foam wings, so I'm hoping for closer to 400 Ipm if I can.

What are your acceleration settings? Ours moves a little bit in quick direction changes, like engraving, but it's a healthy sort of give - not violent.

Ours will be different - different motors, different drivers, etc. - but my settings are 750 velocity and 75 on acceleration, fwiw.

David, is that on Z as well? My settings are 600/50 for X and Y but 200/30 for Z.
I'm thinking that it might be as simple as hitting the max on Z...if I'm trying to do a 3D pass at 400 ipm and there are Z moves with Z limited to 200 it would stutter, right?
I'll bump the Z limit to 300 this weekend and see what I get.

I just looked, Ward, and Z is 250/25. It seems to move fast enough but I suppose could be much faster. It's a ballscrew, though, so maybe that's why it is different. Also, I just looked at the X and Y - the settings I quoted were from an old screenshot but the actual settings are 750/50, fwiw.

I tried upping the Z axis motor speed to 250 and 300 ipm.
No good. I still get noticeable stutter in the other axis movement, and some shake above 200 inches per minute on a 3D cut.
Any ideas?

Am I expecting too much? I have the NEMA 34 PnP system...I was really hoping for 400 inches per minute from this router for these 3D foam projects.

Hey Ward,
I had a simple cut the other day where I was cutting a 1/32" recess about 1/2" wide in a 12" dia. circle and because of overlapping/stepover on the 1/4" bit it made 5 or 6 passes around the circle. I'm thinking it was 6 and three were CW, three were CCW. On one of the CCW passes there was some jerky movement, not a lot but noticeable and it was no longer silky smooth (I was running it in the air to make certain I had the work piece in the right place). So I shot a quick 30 second video and sent it to Nate. The first thing he came back with is the same thing I thought - it can't be mechanical because it did this once and not on the previous or subsequent pass. Nate suggested I look closely at the toolpath and Mach4 to see what was going on, that it might have been a series of very small straight line steps instead of a continuous arc.
So I looked at Fusion 360 and I had chosen 3D pocket for the profile. I redid it as 2D pocket and the jerky movement went away. Not sure what was going on because I have used 3D pocket many times and have never seen that. But Nate was right in pointing me to the toolpath. I'm not sure if any of that helps but this just happened a couple of days ago and was an easy fix.

David, I agree that it's not a Saturn problem, but it could be a CRP issue...I'll take a look at the tool path and see how long the line segments are. I'm still learning V-carve Pro...not sure how much control I have over the tool path without upgrading to Aspire....or switching to Fusion 360 possibly.

I think it was a Mach 3 mistake on my part. I had posted with a feed rate of 200 and I was using 150 %.
I posted at 400 and it is QUITE happy now running at 100%!
