We upgraded to 2005.

Our shop is back in line with the rest of the world, we upgraded from V7- 2005 in one jump. I’m looking forward to using all the new stuff that I’ve been playing with in evaluation mode.

2005 is in a word....AWESOME!!!!!! It works almost seamlessly with solidworks. It has so many new features, it's great!!!! I hope you do well with it.

Do you like the dimensioning improvements ?

I can't wait till we have some idea if the surfacing power of DelCAM PowerShape will be merged. IMO, it would be nice not to have to even think about modeling in something like SolidWorks and just be able to stay inside "FeatureCAD/CAM" for everything.

I'd like to see it be so seamless that SolidWorks is not even necessary.

Your right of course. It would be nice not to need 2 seprate programs to get the job done. I have not attempted much modeling in FC, so I don't know how good that aspect of it is.

Glad you understand where I'm coming from, Dalen. If you use SolidWorks for modeling you most likely would not be very happy modeling in FeatureCAM. If one has never done solid modeling before or needs very basic functionality then FeatureCAM is fine.

The problem I have with SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Inventor, Alibre, etc. are clearly described in this white paper.
