FeatureCAM is a "Feature Based" CAM program, that includes all milling types and tun/turnmilling...the milling side is, in my own words like a "PoweMill Lite" version.

PowerMill is a very powerful CAM program aimed at 3d mill and 5 axis

Yes....If, you are going strictly for Milling, and no Turning.

Both have their advantages, having used both for many years I would say Featurecam is a better all round package (easy to use) for most machining except complex 3d machining, this is where Powermill is unmatched. Powermill is extremely powerful and fantastic with complex milling work, 5 axis 3d contouring for example. It has amazing gouge protection and collision checking for doing these types of toolpaths.

Featurecam is the bees knees for mill/turn work and simple milling and turning. I run out 9 axis Okuma with Featurecam and it is really fast to program now that my post processor is dialled in.

Both very different packages but both really good in their correct application.
