    AICC parameters

    Hi

I have a 31i-A5 control, when I run the bpt test from here I get 4:22, when I turn off AICC I still get exactly 4:22, so no change, but according to the control it is switched off and running because it blinks AICC I when turned on and nothing when turned off...

About a year ago I asked methods machine and was told that the machine can be fine tuned and that the local fanuc dealer can help, they forwarded my email to him, but he then simply told me to "avoid short lines and use G2/G3 instead" lol... since then I sort of forgot about it but am doing a lot of contouring again, does anyone here want to offer some insight as to how to get the performance up?

Fanuc does indeed have people in place that can tune the drives on your machine. Be prepared for them to spend a couple of days at your facility. However, that does not necessarily mean you will get a faster cycle time, as that will depend on a variety of factors, including whether you have all point to point line moves. What you will get is a more precise toolpath as they will eliminate the overshoot and undershoot in each axis.

Okay I see, I thought it was just a few parameters I could put in myself... it does not machine 100% when "dirty" paths are used, but for them to spend a few days would mean also a lot of $$$... it's a pity... Thank you for the explanation.

That has not been my experience with AICC

    try this procedure
    http://www.compumachine.com/Support/...o-use-AICC.pdf

take note: you can hand off surface finish for speed when using AICC

see the Fanuc 30i series sales pdf for more information

Thank you, that is exactly it, I can try put in R1, R5, R10, I also tried L1, L5 and L10 it still stays at exactly 7.5"/min feed, the only difference I get is when I turn off AICC the AICC I blinking goes away but the feed is still the same, also it seems to run by default without needing to switch it on. From the brochure even thought the AICC I is blinking I don't get those smooth finishes, I'll take a picture and post soon what I mean, but I basically get the exact finish they show on the disabled pictures.

I had a look through my old emails again, it's nearly 2 years ago that I tried to solve this issue, I got this response from Methods:
"There are parameters that need to be set we had the same issue. The machine is set up for it but the parameters for some reason are not Your local Fanuc Controls person can help.

    Regards"

However as said before the local guy at the time wasn't interested, also told me he lookahead upgrade was $5500, does that sound right? Anyway he doesn't work for Fanuc anymore so I'll try the new guy, see what he says.

I would have assumed if you had bought this machine from new and you purchased this option (AI Contour Control I or II) then the parameters should have been set up so this is a warranty issue.

I would expect the quote you have is for the Fanuc option with a bunch of other options to enhance this function

Check your Fanuc data sheets to see if this machine actually has the AICC option installed

AICC I is definitely installed, it's standard with these machines not an option, it seems it isn't tuned correctly though.

According to the Fanuc 30i Series descriptions manual it is an option

    GFZ-6394EN/02 - Page 14

Have a read of the attached picture

there are a few different AICC options
you most probably have type 1 if it is installed

There seem to be different ways of enabling AICC overriding, Advanced preview control

have a go at these AICC on/off commands
