using graphics

I'm using a fanuc 21i-TB on a Puma 280 L. I'd please like someone to give me step by step instructions on how to use the graphics so I can get a look at how my programs will run. The book has got to be written by someone whose first language is not english.
Many Thanks, Hacky

You have not indicated what graphics you are talking about

Do you have EzGuide installed on your machine ?

What is the serial number of your Doosan/Daewoo

If you are asking about EzGuide you are better off posting in the Doosan Forum

I believe the graphics on your machine will only draw while the machine is cycling. You can use the Machine Lock (M17), switch to the graphic display, run the program in automatic, then M18 to turn of Machine Lock. You'll have to zero return the macine after.
The spindle and turret will function during program execution, but X and Z won't move.

If you have "dynamic graphic display" enabled on your machine (this is an option), you can see the toolpath graph without the tool moving. If not, use m/c lock key to inhibit axis motion, or use "program test mode".

I can't remember seeing anything on the machine about it having either EZ guide, or dynamic graphic display.
It does need to be in machine lock mode to run the graphics,but when I went into MDI and input M17 it through an alarm. I cant remember , it was 2026 or 2023. I tried to look up the alarm code in the book ,but it was not listed.
There are graphics parameters that need to be typed in so it knows where the part is and how big it is. I tried to put the info in using inch dimensions, but it didn't like that, so I converted them to metric and the screen looked like it was ready to go.
I'll have to get with mgt. and see if they have a list of all the options they got with this machine so I have more info to give when I ask these questions.
Thanks, Hackmeister

I found out that the alarm thrown when the machine is given an M17 command is normal, and all you need to do is re home the machine when you are done. I was able to get the graphics going while I was running a job, I figured out how to zoom it in, and I also found out that I do not have to use M17 when using the graphics. Just call up the program, go into graphics screen,and hit the process soft key.
