    OT-C controller

    Hello
    I am a new owner of a 1998 Amera Seiki TC-2L Slant bed lathe with Fanuc OT-C and C axis or does the C stand for C axis?
    This controller is new to me so I am learning how to run this machine.
    this machine has a Baruffaldi 12 station turret with two live tools.

    I am looking for a programing maunal for this machine it was new in 1998.
    Is there a way to load programs from a laptop to the RS 232 port?
    This OT-C or just OTC what are your opinions of this control?

    Thanks
    Clint

    OT-C is just the revision, it doesn't mean C-axis. Earlier versions 0T-A, 0T-B, and later 0T-D before they changed over to the 0i-T.

    You can communicate to/from this control using a laptop with a serial port. If your laptop doesn't have a serial port (DB-9M), you can buy a USB to serial adapter (not my preference) or a PCMCIA Serial Card. You'll need a cable with a DB-9F connector on one end and a DB-25M connector on the other, wired as follows:

    DB-25M <-----------> DB-9F
    1 <--- shield -------
    2 <-------------------> 2
    3 <-------------------> 3
    7 <-------------------> 5
    4 & 5 jumpered (NC end only)
    6, 8, & 20 jumpered (NC end only)

    You'll need some communication software. Windows comes with Hyperterminal. It's a clunker, but it will work. It doesn't have a "receive text" but it will "capture text". A better "free" solution is NCNet Lite from Cadem.

    Now I know it is a OTC with C axis
    I will look for one of those cables when I go in to the city.
    Thanks for the link to the software.
