KITAMURA WITH OM-6 TOOL CHANGE PROBLEM

Hi,
I have a 92 KITUMRA Mycenter1 and having problems with the tool change operation. In MDI mode I call up a pot number the machine responds, when I type in command M6 the pot drops down as should but the spindle spins at 1000 to 1100RPM rather than the slow RPM I’m use to seeing. Then the spindle stops then nothing happens no ARM movement. The same happens when a program is run. There are no alarms!

Could someone shed some light on this problem?

Thanks In advance,
Eric

Hmm 1000 rpm is quite high

bt it is trying to find its tool orientation position

there is probably something wrong with the orientation sensor

check to see if there is a proxy switch if not what spindle motor do you have probably a spindle encoder fault

I used to work with one and have the same problem, if you are open the cover on top of Z spindle there is a guide rail, I sure it is worn out so the tool changer arm is something not sit all the way up so the proxy switch is not complete circuit ...... that why it does what it done stop moving.
Good luck to find one if you want to replace it, quite expensive if find one. We end up had the machine just doing the engraving or something simple with one tool, and the machine has 21 pocket LOL when think about this.

Hi MysticMonkey,
Thanks for the reply! Where would I find the proxy sensor under the red cover? In the last month the machine has been dropping the program during tool changes. After re-running the program from where it last stop it would run fine all day. I thought nothing of it because I use a rotary inverter to run the machine.
I have the following motor;
Model:3S
Part Number: A06B-0753-13190
NO: C909J1178
MFG DATE: 90-09

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

I'm kind-of-lost here. The tool change ARM is in its home position. I checked it with a straight edge to the spindle nose it's with in factory specs.
Here is my thoughts how a tool change is executed.
1) The tool carousel indexes to the tool called in a program or MDI mode
2) The pot drops.
3) The spindle positions to a specific position.
4) The tool change arm swaps tools. (X & Y axis is locked during this operation)
5) Program starts.
6) Tool pot returns to home.

I think the problem might be somewhere in operation "3" above. I know each step has to be completed before any following steps are executed.

Arm doesn't move becuase the spindel is stopping in a position

Mind you, I have been running the machine on the inverter for a year. Recently I had the main breaker switch in the on position when the inverter was started up took out four fuses. Two on the axis drive board including a surge suppressor (I think it's the axis drive board) and two on the main I/O board. After replacing everything I turned the machine on it powered on without alarms.

I designed a protection devise, it sense the three phase power and only sends power when all three legs are within 10% of its voltage. It works well even with brown outs, it kills all the power instantly.

No if it has one the proxy will be external to the motor probably at the top of the spindle

Had a similar problem on a Milltronics.
It was the magnetic sensor on the spindle, came loose.
Spindle would keep turning looking for looking for the sensor.
Re-aligned and tightened it and worked fine.
The sensor was behind the sheet metal cover on the front of the spindle.
